About Matt

Hi, there! My name is Matt and I am very excited to work with you. I've been teaching guitar for over 8 years and have been helping my students blossom into not only amazing guitar players but competent musicians as well. I studied guitar and performance at Berklee College of Music under the tutelage of some incredible teachers whose credits include many popular artists. Between my eduction and my experience as a professional musician I have a wealth of knowledge to pass on to my students. I am also a founding member of the local, folk rock band Grey Season, and have toured many parts of the country playing critically acclaimed music festivals such as South By Southwest, Bonnaroo, and Boston Calling. I am a fun and laid back instructor but I also believe that if you want to meet your goals, you have to be willing to put in the work. Tell me your goals and lets get started!

I am 27 years old. I began playing guitar at the age of 7 and haven't put it down since. I was born and raised in California and moved to Boston 4 years ago to study at Berklee College of Music. Guitar has opened many doors in my life and taken me places I would never have imagined going. In my time in Boston I formed a well known local band called Grey Season. With Grey Season, I have played major music festivals across the country such as Bonnaroo, SXSW, Boston Calling, Lowell Summer Concert Series and more. Through Grey Season, I have also worked with famous Grammy winning producers and recorded at well known studios.

I believe the guitar is a beautiful instrument that I am incredibly passionate about, and as a guitar teacher one of my goals is to help my students discover their passion for music. Growing up, I was lucky enough to have great music instructors who also became my mentors. I have studied with some notable teachers in my formative years near Los Angeles and at Berklee College of Music including Jay Leach, Jeff Lockhart, Eric Wright, and John Baboian (their credits include Beyoncé, James Brown, Roy Orbison, Carrie Underwood, Lettuce, Brian McKnight, Dido and more). I teach all styles, grade levels, and cater my lessons to the students' needs and interests.
